Job Description
The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with a social care provider in Edinburgh in the recruitment of an accounts assistant for a 9-month fixed term contract.

The role will be based in the head office for a minimum of 2 days per week and will report into the head of finance. The finance team consists of 11 members who are split into two separate areas of the business. Both areas have a senior finance figure that deputises for head of finance and who you will support on a day-to-day basis.

The vacancy has arisen due to a period of maternity and is forecast to last for 9 months. There is limited scope for this role to become extended or converted into a permanent hire.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide our client with accounting support which will allow for the department to produce meaningful accounting information for the operational heads of department. Your duties will not be prescriptive and will vary however, below is a list of anticipated tasks.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Review and approval of allocated funds to specific support cost centres.
Responsible for the collation, review and approval of authorised expenses payments.
Assistance in the management reporting cycle and production of monthly board packs for a portfolio of social care contracts.
Review and analysis of monthly management accounts ensuring relevant commentary of the variances is presented in an understandable format for non-financial colleagues.
Engage with colleagues and act as a finance expert in the explanation of financial matters.
Review contacted provision of hours provided versus delivered to ensure invoicing is accurate and timely sent.
Review newly commissioned contracted hours and ensure billing cycles are accurately reflected with them included.
Reconciliation of accruals, prepayments and other rudimentary month end tasks.

The Requirements
We are ideally seeking an applicant who is part qualified (ACCA/CIMA), or an AAT qualified applicant. Our client has indicated that they might consider an applicant who is qualified by experience but they would need to have exceptional accounting credentials and experience. Our client is seeking an individual who is happy to work in an environment that is evolving constantly, as such we are seeking an individual with a flexible mindset. You will be liaising with colleagues internally via teams and in written form frequently so your communication skills will be outstanding.
