We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager within their Corporate Finance Team to join their site based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Regional Financial Controller – The Senior Finance Manager –will be responsible for the full financial control of the annual budget expenditure.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparing & Reporting Financials in line with the company and group deadlines (Profit and Loss statements, Balance Sheet, Budgets) Work in close partnership with the individual budget holders and the group consolidation team to provide accurate, timely and comprehensive annual budgets as well as monthly re-forecasts.
Support and participate in the preparation of a variety of monthly reports including reconciliations, adjustments, and investigating and solving discrepancies.
Reviewing financial statements and other documents to ensure they are accurate and complete and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with company policies and procedures and in accordance with IFRS/UKGAAP
Reporting to management on the status of results and performance including updating
them on any issues that arise
Assist with ad hoc projects required by management to ensure that the Finance Team is complying with current standards and is prepared for any changes to such standards in the future.
Monitoring cash flow
Preparing initial drafts of accounting records of transactions (Corporation Tax, Statutory Accounts)
Preparation and Submission of quarterly VAT return
May be required to assist with payroll
Ensure required payments are made within deadlines (PAYE, tax, etc.)
Coordinating with external auditors to ensure that audits are completed on time and according to standards
Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is adequate control in place for every critical operation.
Monitor A/P, trade payables and commissions payable
Monitor A/R and the turnover cycle to ensure collection of accounts
Co-ordinate with different departments on escalated issues to get an efficient response
Review of monthly commitments and preparations of monthly accruals and prepayments reconciliations including timely follow up on any queries
Understand the cost drivers of the business and can provide insight to the non-finance members
Manage and work with members of the Finance Team (local & corporate) to drive the production of monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounts
Oversee (and be point of escalation for) all duties of the Financial Accounting team
Optimize the customer experience throughout the department through innovation and improved processes.
Conduct quarterly performance reviews, monitor, and encourage staff training
Ensure targets and objectives are achieved in accordance with appraisals
Create a high performing & engaged team by effectively using performance management.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with all other teams.
Other duties as required.
To build strong relations and provide financial support to commercial decision making.
Challenge and hold business managers to account to ensure that all concepts have been properly considered before presenting to the business.
Challenge current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost savings wherever possible
Be comfortable dealing with and working through issues and operational challenges with project teams and other stakeholders.
To work with finance teams across the group and non-finance manager.
Qualification & Experience:
Qualified finance professional – ACA, ACCA, CIMA
SAP proficiency
Advanced Excel skills
Previous experience managing staff in a Finance team local and corporate is a must
Good time management skills, ability to prioritise workload and flexibility to work to strict reporting deadlines.
Strong organisation and administration skills
Analytical ability with a good attention to detail
Strong communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels
Determined and assertive, prepared to get into the detail to understand the complex cost drivers of the business.
