Summary:

We are looking for a Design Manager to join a leading carbon management and cost reduction solutions company. As the Design Manager you will run the day-to-day operations of the Design Department and implementation of the Design strategy. In this role you will forecast budgets, conduct regular meetings to plan and schedule workloads, invoicing, KPIs reviews, and implement QA procedures. To be successful in this role you will need 20 years’ Design experience, Experience in design calculation software packages, Good working knowledge of industry regulations, mechanical and electrical designs, and installations, and be qualified to degree level. Key responsibilities:

Forecasting the Departments budget and be accountable for achieving budget targets
Regular department and one to one meeting with Department members to plan and schedule workloads
Confirming invoicing monthly to the finance Department
Responsible for implementing QA procedures for all projects
Recruitment where required within the Departments budget
Working with the Sales Team to establish pipeline and target areas
Regular KPI reviews
Reporting the Departments performance monthly at Director level
Help develop and train Junior and Graduate Engineers as required

Skills and experience required: 

20 years’ Design experience having worked up the Engineer levels to Senior Engineer.
Management Experience.
Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, engineering consultancy and/or mechanical and electrical installations.  
Experience in design calculation software packages: AutoCAD, Dialux, TAS EDSL, IES and Hevacomp  
Good working knowledge of industry regulations, mechanical and electrical design and installations
Able manage/prioritise workload to meet deadlines whilst maintaining good communication with client and design teams.
Professionally qualified to Degree level and/or Chartership Status
