Operations Support Engineer – Instrumentation
Salary: £60,000-£65,000 + £6,900 car allowance + Private Health Care
Location: Great Yarmouth

Well, I am recruiting for an Operations Support Engineer to join my client, a successful player in their sector. The Role:
To join the Asset Support Team based in Great Yarmouth and work across a range of offshore gas installations and renewable assets for a variety of clients. Initially the role will be dedicated to the supporting the final delivery of a project through to the operations phase whilst also providing discipline support to existing operations.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Initial Project Support
Support the Operations Manager with Operational Readiness activities and Operational input to the project during design including:
Assist in delivering the scope and plan for all operational readiness activities
Produce / input to technical documents & operational readiness documents.
Assist in development of maintenance & integrity policies, strategies, and routines.
Provide and coordinate input to the hook-up, commissioning and start-up plan and activities
Deputise for the contract manager as required
Responsible for ensuring operations systems are developed in accordance with ODE, Client and International Standards.
Coordinate multi-discipline project teams to develop and implement fit for purpose scopes which are delivered safely in accordance with the project schedule, agreed budgets, and completion dates.
Represent the company and act as focal point with clients for all project activities including providing project progress updates
Conduct offshore / site surveys as required
Manage project risks and coordinate all mitigation activities to address the risks
Consolidate and agree scopes of work with clients and support the preparation of proposals, detailed cost estimates and project schedules
Ensure work is planned and executed safely and in line with ODE's SHEQ policy
Operations Support Engineer
Assist with the coordination of all changes to asset instrument and control systems using client Management of Change procedures and to formulate scopes of work in sufficient detail to allow detailed cost estimates to be developed by engineering department.
Effectively managing maintenance and operations risks, in particular SECE's
Ensure all Instrument drawings / documents are maintained to reflect the current operations.
Establishing and maintaining an annual work plan that interfaces scheduled maintenance with additional engineering and verification activities
Review anomalies identified from daily operating reports and assess implications.
Review data from completed maintenance activities and compare with equipment expectations, investigating alternatives for items continually failing to meet targets.
Attend fabrication and vendor premises to assist with factory acceptance testing and commissioning activities in support of both new and existing assets.
Attend onshore, offshore installations and overseas to assist with site acceptance tests and other support activities.
Maintain familiarity with relevant statutory regulations, codes of practice and offshore industry standards, Health and Safety at Work etc.
Experience and knowledge of Managing Major Accident Hazards.
Experience:
Instrument and Controls engineer based in Great Yarmouth with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Oil & Gas managing and maintaining automation and instrumentation systems.
Detail knowledge of DCS, SCADA and PLC systems.
Detail Knowledge of automation Control networks.
Experience with HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA and SIL development, SIF loop and SIS management is requirement.
IEC 61511 experience to Safety engineer level is desirable.
Proven working experience with IEC62682 and alarms management.
Proven working experience with safety case, Performance standard, verification scheme and the management of SECE.
Operational support: reviewing and updating instrument work instructions, identifying issues & action close out.
Contribute to assets key performance indicators.
Additional Competencies Soft Skills:
Knowledge of offshore gas production, process & utility systems and their failure mechanisms.
Use of proprietary Maintenance Management System.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice in respect of offshore southern North Sea asset maintenance and integrity.
Good understanding of Major Accident Hazards, Safety Critical Elements, Performance Standards and Verification Schemes.
Offshore Survival, medical, etc.- preferred
Excellent change control and organisational skills.
Good analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines
Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to write reports for different audiences.
Strong IT literacy in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with computer maintenance management systems.
Flexible and able to travel for meetings, training courses etc.
Safety and Environmental Related Tasks:
Work at all times within the ODE SHEQ Management Systems and the Safety Case.
Ensure maximum reliability and availability is maintained for all electrical related SCE's and ECE's (e.g. Ignition Source Control and Process Control and Emergency Shutdown).
Ensure all instrumentation located in hazardous areas have correct 'ex' rating for the correct hazardous zone and installed and maintained in accordance with current procedures and standards.
Work collaboratively with engineering staff, onshore operations and stakeholders to maintain SCE/ECE's, assisting with Risk Assessments as required.
Contribute towards the prevention, mitigation or reduction of the risk to which all workers are exposed offshore.
Contribute to the safety culture essential for realising improvements in safety.
Performing in an emergency role as defined by the Company Emergency Response Procedures.
Ensure any identified platform changes are brought to the attention of ODE Offshore Management to ensure compliance with the ODE Change Management Procedure.
Ensure that all environmental emissions, discharges and any non-conformances are fully reported and where practicable, immediate corrective actions implemented.
Carry out proactive monitoring for potential hazards and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Preferable degree qualified or HNC / HND with knowledge and experience of southern North Sea gas production facilities and operations
