Job Description
Job Title: Systems Accountant
Work Pattern: 37 hours per week
Type: Permanent
Location: Middlesbrough TS2
Salary: £ 36,364 per annum
Purpose of the role –
Our client is looking for a Systems Accountant to support the Senior Finance Manager (Systems and Transactions) in the delivery and development of effective finance systems for the Group.
Job Role –
To support the Senior Finance Manager (Systems and Transactions) with the delivery of an effective Accounts and Treasury service
Responsible for Open Accounts and related systems processes and administration, ensuring compliance with standing orders and financial regulations.
Support the accurate and timely import of interfaces that fall within the responsibility of the finance team (ie, not deemed as ICT functions)
Oversee system testing and the implementation of upgrades and new finance software, including assessment of functionality of systems and recommendation for system specification
Proactively support and deliver service improvement for Open Accounts and related systems, including testing and training.
Support the writing of reports to deliver management information, utilising various reporting facilities, including EDR, Open Reporting and Power BI Assist in the development of finance processes and reporting
Support across the organisation as appropriate to increase financial control and deliver finance process improvements
Analysis of financial data including benchmarking, statistical returns and performance reporting.
Support both internal and external audit processes through the production of reports, provision of information and liaison with Auditors
Candidate Requirements –
Holds or is working towards a recognised accounting qualification or significant demonstrable experience
Knowledge of Accounting Regulation and principles
Proven ability to collate, evaluate, analyse, review, report and solve complex financial matters such as compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
Proven skill in the identification of requirements, recording and analysis of data and information, and identification of solutions
Experience in project (end to end) work
Ability to develop and maintain appropriate systems, maximise the use of technology and to effectively use compliance software, other IT applications and media to support the service as appropriate.
Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues across Finance and the wider business
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with an ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive conversations and queries appropriately.
