Job Description
Your New Job Title: Shipping Documentation Officer

Your New Salary: up to £32K per annum
Location: Central London
Working hours: Monday – Friday 9-5pm (35 hour week)

What You'll be Doing Each Day:
The role is focused on ensuring that any active and passive claims on UK and foreign ATA Carnets are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner. This includes ensuring all necessary steps are taken to prevent claims progressing to payment to foreign or UK Customs. As a result working to a strict timetable, adherence to systems and attention to detail are critical.
The job holder will be initially trained to issue ATA Carnets so that they gain a good understanding of what happens at the pre-issue stage. There may be some periodic involvement with issuing Carnets but there will be a regular pre-issue role involving credit checks for Carnet applicants.
* Provide credit checks on ATA Carnet applicants
* Compile and provide statistical information on Carnet issues
* Implement credit control process where necessary liaising with third party agencies as appropriate
* Monitor UK Issued Carnet Claims
* Once trained to process ATA Carnets track Carnet issuing and flag up any process risks
* Regularise and discharge Carnets as appropriate
* Deal with claims lodged against UK-issued ATA Carnets
* Take ownership of any claim once it has progressed to an advanced stage
* Where a claim is lodged take appropriate action to regularise the claim and make payment to Customs where necessary. This will entail communication with the Carnet holder and may involve contact with UK Customs and foreign NGOs and the Carnet security team advisers
* Recommend to the senior management panel the passing of debts to Insurers for settlement as necessary
* Produce monthly and ad hoc statistics and claims reports as appropriate
* Deal with claims relating to foreign-issued ATA Carnets
* Monitor foreign-issued Carnets where goods have come into UK as appropriate
* Liaise with foreign parties e.g. Carnet holders, NGOs and Customs to help ensure that foreign Carnets are regularised or appropriate claims are paid
* Ensure processes and activities are fully compliant with company's protocols and legislation including data protection and marketing communications.
* Reflect the values, demonstrating high levels of professional performance and behavioural standards, always seeking continuous improvement
* Demonstrate flexible and adaptable approach to business needs at any given time
* Contribute to a motivated, respected and highly knowledgeable team of professionals focussed on overall success of the team and the company
The Skills You'll Need to Succeed:
* Ability to issue/knowledge of ATA Carnets would be a big plus!
* Familiarity with basic international trade procedures and shipping documentation
* Excellent telephone manner
* Credit control experience a plus.
* Solid experience of outbound calling
* Good written communication skills
* Accuracy and good attention to detail
* Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
* Proficient with Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of accounting practices is a bonus
