LOCATION

Hybrid (mainly remote with occasional team meetings at our Bath or Newcastle office)

SALARY

£55-65k per annum (subject to skill set)

THE ROLE

Keeping our customers’ information safe and secure is paramount to L&C. You’ll effectively deliver and maintain a robust risk management framework across L&C, ensuring the business meets its risk management, internal control and regulatory requirements.

In our fast-paced industry, you’ll promptly deal with emerging challenges and you’ll be quick to update and challenge L&C’s risk appetite and policies to ensure our framework remains fit for purpose.

You’ll:

* Be the Business Heads’ and Operation Managers’ expert on understanding, identification, management and mitigation of risk and control.

* Deliver agreed risk management processes and tools to operational business areas.

* Promote awareness and understanding of the control environment across the business.

* Maintain a good level of understanding of the latest regulatory and legislative developments in order to ensure L&C acts within the necessary requirements for managing risk.

* Shape and drive risk reporting and all other areas of risk control as you constantly review and analyse risk intelligence, using internal and external data to provide monthly and annual reports.

* Chair the operational risk committee.

Manage your Risk Reporting Assistant and work closely with our Compliance team.

Help our business maintain the requisite compliance and customer focus.

FCA CERTIFICATION REGIME & CONDUCT RULES

L&C is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is classified as an Enhanced Firm under the Senior Manager’s and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This role is classed as Certified Non Directory Person (CNDP). L&C has made a bespoke, risk based decision to apply its, (L&C’s), internal Certification Regime controls to this role for consistency among customer facing/Advisory roles. The Conduct Rules apply to this role as required by the FCA. Your details are not required to be entered onto the FCA Register/Directory. Any confirmed breaches of the Conduct Rules (defined by FCA parameters) will be reported to the FCA annually. Should you apply for a certified role in another financial services firm then L&C will be required to disclose this information in a Regulatory Reference request.

ABOUT YOU

Your background in designing and delivering risk policies, processes and procedures in finance or insurance industries has already given you extensive knowledge of the compliance side of the financial sector. It’s also helped you to hone your excellent communication skills, giving you the ability to interact efficiently and develop professional relationships with internal and external colleagues. You’ll also be proficient at developing professional positive relationships with internal and external colleagues.

Desirably you will have gained your relevant qualifications.

You will ensure FCA and L&C standards and procedures are followed at all times and will have excellent organisation and IT skills.

With personal drive to minimise risk to L&C and our customers, you’ll have in depth knowledge of business continuous improvement methodologies and the ability to change management approaches. Good judgment and decision making are second nature to you. And you’ll have no problem using your initiative and adapting when necessary.
