Job Description
Job Title: Mortgage Underwriter

Location: Remote with Travel to the head office once a quarter (Berkshire) Travel costs covered

Salary: up to £40,000 depending on experience with performance related incentives of up to £3000 per quarter depending on performance

Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 9am-5.30pm

We now have several new opportunities for Mortgage Underwriters working on a remote basis offering up to £40,000 with our client, who are an established specialist Buy-to-let and Residential Lending Business. The role holder will be responsible for consistently providing an effective and efficient mortgage underwriting service from application to completion, underwriting mortgage applications within lending policy and approved lending mandate. Aside from the basic salary, there is also a performance related incentive offering up to £3000 each quarter based on quality and volume.

Responsibilities for the role of Mortgage Underwriter

Maintain the quality of the overall mortgage book by exercising an underwriting mandate in a way that demonstrates strong credit assessment skills
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring all applications are underwritten within internal policies, procedures and criteria as well as remaining compliant with all applicable regulatory guidelines
Provide recommendations for applications outside of mandate ensuring all cases hold a robust documented rationale for the lending decision
Developing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external business partners and customers
Meet key performance indicators and service levels by working to agreed objectives and deliverables
Proactive and positive communicator, who is naturally organised, enjoys achieving stretching targets
Maintain up to date awareness of current market, financial and regulatory requirements
Telephone call handing, including Business to Business with Packagers, Brokers and Solicitors
Assess decision in principle and full mortgage applications through all key stages and make strong recommendations for lending
Carry out any tasks or activities required by ManagerExperience required for the role of Mortgage Underwriter

Experience of underwriting mortgage applications with a buy to let or residential mortgage lender is essential; preference will be given to candidates from specialist lending businesses
Must have a min of 12 months mandated mortgage underwriting experience
Understands all key elements and stages of mortgage applications at every level of the process
