Job Description
Our client, a scientific company based in South Cambridge, is looking to recruit for a Purchasing Assistant to join the Financial Operations team. Initially this is a temporary role (4 weeks) but there are permanent prospects for the right candidate.

The Purchasing Assistant will be motivated, enthusiastic, and organised. Reporting to the Finance Director, the role will be responsible for all purchasing activities; working closely with Operations and Finance teams to ensure the purchasing process runs smoothly. The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for liaising with different internal teams and external suppliers so that the purchasing orders process is efficient.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

* Placing Purchase Orders for stock purchases from the company’s MRP software

* Placing Purchase Orders with suppliers for non-stock purchases

* Being the first point of contact with our suppliers

* Reviewing and maintaining delivery dates on purchase orders and updating relevant teams

* Liaising between suppliers and relevant internal departments

* Sending invitation to tenders to new and existing suppliers

* Dealing with queries on purchase orders with suppliers

* Other administrative tasks

Candidates will need to have the following skills and experience:

* Working knowledge of orders workflow

* Excellent organisational and communication skills

* Excellent attention to detail

* Proficiency with MS Office programs, such as Excel and Word

* Ability to work independently within a small team

* Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders

* Experience within a manufacturing purchasing background (preferred)
