Job Description
My client is a management company who provide operational support to 11 memorial parks and crematoria across the UK. The company has grown significantly over the last few years, with two further memorial parks under construction.

The company’s success requires high quality financial support to the Finance Manager and Group Finance Manager, providing a new opportunity for a Management Accountant.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will demonstrate all the skills, experience and attributes required in an SME environment with a proven track record of excellent attention to detail, and a proactive and methodical approach to tasks.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Management Accountant who demonstrates all the skills, experience and attributes required of this role. This role is multi company focused. There will be a requirement to work closely with the Finance Manager and the wider Finance Team supporting one another to provide accurate controls and reconciliations, as well as supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and other reports as required, and to provide cover for one another in the case of sickness, holidays or temporary absence for professional reasons.

Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines, determine priorities and organise work to meet objectives and identify and deal with problems with the minimum of supervision, with a desire to progress.

Liaising with all sites, internal departments, and external parties in ensuring a high level of operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provision of support to the Finance Manager and Group Finance Manager in the delivery of an excellent finance function to the senior management team and stakeholders alike.

* Accountable for comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, and the calculation of prepayments and accruals

* Assistance in the preparation of monthly management accounts for all associated businesses, including KPIs, variance analysis and forecasts

* Responsible for carrying out inter-company reconciliations

* Ensuring the correct accounting treatment of policies

* Assist in preparing annual budgets, ensure these are accurate and completed to tight deadlines; plus supporting group budget holders in controlling spend

* Provision of ad hoc management information to Directors and Managers

* Ownership of VAT return submission to HMRC

* Support compliance with all legal & regulatory requirements including year-end files & liaison with auditors

* Acquiring knowledge of finance department processes in order to provide holiday and sickness cover for these functions.

* Assist in the design, implementation & management of all internal financial procedures and processes to future-proof business growth

* Systems admin, support and problem-solving involving the company’s operational systems and harnessing technology to ensure the business efficiency

* General input into company IT, process management, electronic banking

Skills and Qualifications:

ACCA / CIMA finalist / newly qualified or QBE, several years of experience in a finance role; experience using SAP would be beneficial; advanced level of general IT skills – particularly Microsoft Excel and preferably an administrative system; solid communication skills, both written and verbal; superior attention to detail; organisational skills; planning skills; analytical skills; honesty.

Personal Attributes:

You will be confident, pro-active and have solid exposure to reconciliations of income, costs and balance sheets, with focus on the granular level of detail. You will have good time management skills and be able to meet tight reporting deadlines. You will be required to adapt quickly to the changing needs of the businesses.
