What do we do?

We provide specialist support to HMRC business areas on the strategic direction and process for HMRC’s suppliers across the full range of HMRC’s external spend – you could be supporting our Corporate Services, Property & FM or IT categories or Major Transformation Programmes. We work collaboratively with the business customer to shape long term demand and co-create specific commercial requirements. We provide a seamless sourcing service, delivering the extensive range of goods and services that HMRC needs from requirements gathering to contract signature.

Job description

To lead delivery of a portfolio of commercial activities aligned to category plans and HMRC objectives. To work collaboratively and provide professional commercial leadership to business customers and commercial colleagues.

This role will offer an outstanding platform for you demonstrate your excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills. It will help you stretch and develop your technical and strategic capabilities.

Responsibilities

Supporting commercial leaders to manage and deliver their category plans and the pipeline of procurement activity

Developing an understanding of supply market trends, leading practices and relevant innovation for your allocated category

Developing and designing sourcing events so that HMRC can optimise the value in the competitive marketplace

Supporting delivery against the sourcing pipeline through early engagement with Lines of Business and advise/guide the business in the development of ‘fit for purpose’ specifications

Engaging effectively with the market to inform current or future procurement strategies

Supporting leaders in developing negotiation strategies and seeking optimum routes to market to deliver the required commercial outcomes and improved value

Identifying, building and maintaining stakeholder relationships to support delivery of effective pipeline planning and inform future commercial strategies

Building knowledge and expertise in commercial methods, procurement routes and government frameworks relevant to your allocated category

Essential criteria:

Significant relevant procurement and commercial experience

Good knowledge of procurement processes and the commercial life cycle

Strong digital skills across a wide range of platforms

Desirable Criteria:

MCIPS or equivalent qualification
