Job Description
Our client is recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a company in Crewe, initially on a temporary basis but potentially leading to permanent for the right candidate. The main purpose of the role will be to provide day to day operational support to the purchase ledger and sales ledger functions of the company. Additionally, to assist other functions within the Finance Department to ensure all Finance processes are accurate and maintained to comply with both the company and Statutory requirements.
Purchase Ledger Duties:
* Record and process all incoming purchase ledger invoices
* Prepare weekly and monthly supplier payment runs for GBP, Euro and USD invoices
* Post supplier payments, foreign, direct debits, cheques and BACS payments
* Maintain accurate files for supplier invoices received
* Maintain the purchase ledger cash book and balancing at month end
* Various ledger reporting
* Dealing with invoice queries
Sales Ledger Duties:
* Process daily customer invoice run
* Post daily cash receipts to correct customer accounts
* Maintain the sales ledger cash book and balancing at month end
* Deal with invoice queries on the sales ledger and prepare adhoc manual invoices and credit notes
* Debt chasing
* Various ledger reporting
General:
* Provide any information required for internal and external audits as requested
* Provide holiday cover for other team members
* Proactively deal with comments and complaints from suppliers and customers as they arise
* Ensure that the company’s housekeeping standards are maintained. This also includes adequate archiving of accounting records
* Ensure that all work complies with statutory requirements and with standing financial regulations of the company
* Be committed to health and safety and ensure that you are familiar with all of the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.
* Any other ad hoc duties as required including general office support and administration to support the smooth running of the Finance department.
Skills Required:
* Good numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
* Confident user of Excel
* Ability to actively manage time, adapt to change and prioritise work load under tight deadlines whilst maintaining speed and accuracy.
* Experience of working in a small team environment.
* All round experience of office administration and invoice processing.
* Good communication ability with both internal and external customers.
Hours / Pay:
* Part-time Monday to Friday – 25 hours per week
* £11.15 per hour
