Salary: £50k to £60k depending on experience and qualifications

The Client:

Our client provides a comprehensive financial planning and discretionary management service to the clients. They provide investment advice, pension and protection planning to both corporate and individual clients. They also offer a discretionary investment management service where they manage investments for clients.

They have an experienced team from a range of professional backgrounds. They are passionate about client service and have a structured approach in ensuring they regularly communicate with clients so that financial planning remains a priority.

Main Purpose of Job:

They are seeking to recruit an experienced Paraplanner to be based on the Finchley Road. This is a challenging role where the company will provide the successful candidate with the required training to further their career. They are seeking a long-term commitment from an individual who will hopefully grow and develop in the role over a number of years. There will be ample opportunity to become a Senior Paraplanner or a Financial Planner within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Preparation of reports to clients on financial planning matters.
Obtaining relevant literature to accompany client reports.
Preparation of packs for meetings with clients including regular investment valuations. Liaising directly with clients as the “Paraplanner”. This will include a variety of queries in connection with the client’s financial affairs.
Ensure appropriate documentation is obtained and/or completed so that client files remain compliant and up to date at all times.
Conduct product research and obtain suitable illustrations to help in the decision-making process, to document and facilitate the provision of appropriate advice.
Passing information to Administration in order that investment purchases and sales under the Discretionary and Advisory Management Services, are initiated.
Learning and utilising all applications required for the job including:
Excel / Word.
Financial Express Analytics.
Intelliflo client management system.
CashCalc Cashflow Modelling Tool.
Defaqto Risk Profiler.
Aegon, Investcentre and Standard Life Wrap – investment deals & client processing.

Experience:

Paraplanner, qualified to at least Diploma level, with at least 2 years’ experience in the role. 
Solid generalist experience within the Financial Services sector. 
Good understanding of compliance issues and maintenance of client files and confidentiality. 
A good working knowledge of appropriate systems e.g., iO (database), Microsoft Office suite etc.
Numerate and familiar with operating and creating spreadsheets. 
Comfortable in crafting detailed letters and comprehensive bespoke reports. 
Strong organisational skills required. 

Technical Knowledge and Qualifications:

The successful candidate should be comfortable and understand the structure of pension, investments and life products and be willing to learn and understand more complex financial products.
Technical knowledge is a pre-requisite. The candidate will have attained the Diploma, or Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning.
Other qualifications in this area will be an advantage but training and development are provided and encouraged. A solid academic track record is also a distinct advantage.
