Job Description
Nicholas Howard Limited is delighted to be recruiting for a new and exciting role as a Management Accountant.

Based in Brentwood but working a Hybrid pattern of 1 – 2 days in the office, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overseeing of the day to day accounting for the mortgage loan book and the monthly Management Accounting to Trial Balance, ensuring that the targets relating to these activities, service, quality and productivity are met at all times, whilst adhering to the Company’s internal and external regulatory, legal and compliance requirements.

As the client is a Financial Conduct Authority regulated entity, there are a number of controls in place which need to be reported on to the Risk Committee on a monthly basis to show that the Finance Department are carrying out their duties as required and in line with the ‘Mortgages and Home Finance: Conduct of Business Sourcebook (MCOB)’ which governs the relationship between mortgage lenders and borrowers in the United Kingdom.

Part of this role will be to monitor and report on the required areas to assess the effectiveness of the operation of Finance’s controls to ensure that the department can demonstrate it complies with prevailing regulatory, legal and TCF requirements and principles.

Key Accountabilities:

* To oversee all aspects of Management Accounting control and execution to trial balance including variance analysis to Budget and Prior year for an agreed set of nominal codes and other analytical work. Including review of weekly and month end Bank Reconciliations.

* The client has external funding from Bank and under the Funding Agreement there are certain reporting requirements which need to be undertaken, this role would contribute to that.

* To prepare the monthly Risk Committee reporting on a timely and accurate basis ensuring all required analysis, review and calculations are in place, to assess the effectiveness of the operation of Finance’s controls to ensure that Finance can demonstrate it complies with prevailing regulatory, legal and TCF requirements and principles.

* To prepare the quarterly Vat return as required.

* To contribute suggestions to enhance procedures.

* To participate in testing of any process changes (as required).

* To support the Financial Controller and Head of Projects with month end requirements and the year-end external audit as required.

* To support the Deputy Finance Director and monitor the execution and delivery of core business and finance projects and initiatives as pertinent to the Department along with relevant process improvements.

* To carry out other ad hoc duties as required.

Skills & Experience:

* The client is looking for a high calibre candidate that is a good team player but can also work autonomously and who will integrate with not only their team but the wider business. With flexibility to help and assist colleagues to get the job done even if not a prescribed task in their job description.

* To be a proactive self-starter and to be self-motivated maintaining a high level of energy and drive in relation to the role.

* The role requires the candidate to have a genuine commitment to service delivery to both internal and external customers given its nature.

* It is imperative to display excellent, planning, organisational, time management and interpersonal skills as there are tight deadlines to achieve and there can be several interruptions in the day.

* Given the nature of the role, must be mathematical, analytical and display an inquisitive and forensic nature.

* It is imperative to display a high degree of attention to detail.

* Must be at least Part Qualified

* if Part Qualified to be studying towards a professional qualification.

* A minimum of three years Management Accounting experience with proven track record preferred.

* Excellent level of accuracy, numeracy, computer and Excel skills (at least proficient in Look ups /Sumifs / Pivot tables).

* Experience in a Financial Services regulated company would be highly beneficial.

* Knowledge of the Access Dimensions Accounting System beneficial.
