Brief Outline
We are looking to recruit a self-motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic Estimator for our client to join their market leading team based near Chelmsford, Essex.
About our Client
Our client is a leading independent supplier and installer of raised access flooring and associated solutions.
About the Role
In the role of Estimator you will be an outstanding individual who will assist in the continued expansion of the business within our marketplace, with the ability to price raised flooring projects of all types from £500 to £5m.
Within the role, you will be expected to;
· Develop and maintain both company and client working relationships.
· Operate and maintain all aspects of a tender, from downloading relevant tender documentation, taking off quantities, building up rates and compiling a complete tender submission, including a quantified schedule of prices and assembling associated documentation required by the tender enquiry.
· Liaise with our Estimating team via weekly strategy meetings to ensure all tenders are considered, workload is evenly distributed and project targets are clearly communicated.
· Work in liaison with our team to price projects in an accurate and timely manner, provide considered responses to tender queries raised during the tender process and negotiate best price with the client team.
· You will be required to attend meetings as may be required internally and with the client team including attending pre-tender, mid-bid and post tender meetings as may be required. In addition, from time to time, we may be requested to attend a post tender presentation of our submission.
· You will be required to provide a clear and concise handover of the successful tender to our Procurement Manager and our site management team including producing a projected cost value reconciliation for the works and to compile a pack of all tender related information.
· Assist our Procurement Manager in negotiating rates with suppliers and subcontractors including keeping standard estimating templates up to date with current pricing.
About the Candidate
To be considered for the role, we would like you to have experience of the following;
· Ideally some experience within the London fit out/refurbishment sector and have experience in managing the submission of large subcontract tenders.
· Main contractor experience is preferred, however raised floor package experience is not essential.
· Be very organised, methodical and confident in administering the role.
· Be adaptable to working in different work environments from fit out and refurbishment contracts through to data centre installations, both in the UK and from time to time in Europe as our client relationships may require.
· Strong measurement/ taking off skills are essential, supported by knowledge of take-off packages such as Callidus ideally, or Blue Beam/ Quickscale. In addition, a detailed understanding of Excel is a priority.
· Strong presentation and communication skills including experience in setting up and chairing Teams/ Zoom meetings as may be required.
· Excellent negotiation skills.
· Able to work closely with a relatively small but highly motivated team within a flexible working environment.
