Job Description
We are seeking a very 'hands on' Financial Controller to join a growing family run SME business in this new role for their organisation.

The successful applicant will be very hands on and involved in producing accurate financial and management accounts as well as completing the day to day accounting processes for the business with the assistance of a bookkeeper. The objective of this role will be to ensure the financial success of the organisation through accurate and timely financial reporting and the development of well-managed processes to enable the advancement of the business.

Duties and responsibilities:

Day-to-day management of the finance function
Preparation of timely monthly management accounts
Creation and delivery of budgets and reforecasting in collaboration with the SMT
Day to day financial transactions – oversee all cash flow movements including payments and approval process
Provision of commercial analysis and support to the business, oversee commercial spend & rebate reporting to clients as well as ad-hoc reporting including analysis of sales by product / margin / stock turns / stock write offs
Customer profitability analysis
Debtor and creditor management and highlighting of risks
Completion of CAPEX
Produce draft statutory accounts as applicable and supporting information pack
VAT returns
Manage inventory reporting, monitor inventory days, prepare provisioning, and oversee the stock counting process
Project work including the transfer of general accounting activities to new system
Completion of payroll journals and submission of information to HMRC
Manage local IT and ERP system and process changes
Liaise with accountants to ensure all information is presented when requests, as well as ensuring all external information is prepared
Process and system improvements to drive efficiency whist maintaining customer service across the business

Skills and experience required:

CIMA, ACCA or AAT qualified – QBE applicants with relevant experience will be considered
Experience of working within the building materials or renewable energy industry is desirable
Experience of working within a small finance team or a standalone FC role
Demonstrates a growth mindset and an interest in seeing the role and business develop
Confident in leading, challenging and influencing both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm (40-hour working week)
