BI Developer

£40,000-£44,000

Telford / Birimingham / Edinburgh

Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

Undertake development of Informatica, Oracle and/or Business Objects technical solutions. In line with functional specifications and following the pre-defined standards undertake / facilitate delivery of:
All build deliverables
Unit test plans
System Integration Test defect resolution and support
All other artefacts which are part of the technical development phase of the IT Change Development Lifecycle (ITCDL).
Ensuring that all deliverables are developed to agreed and appropriate time and quality.
Work with the wider project team, e.g. Project Managers, Release Managers, Technical Architects, Solution Architects, Business Analysts and Enterprise Architects, in the effective delivery of these solutions.
Escalate to development management and project management as soon as it becomes apparent that estimates / timelines may be exceeded.
Determine solution and build approaches that conform to project delivery timelines.
Own the technical designs and as required present to the relevant governance bodies for review and approval.
Accountable for design fitness for purpose and quality of solutions.
Complete Impact Assessments / estimates for proposed Informatica, Oracle and Business Objects changes to IT systems in a timely, accurate and effective manner.
Undertake design, code and unit testing reviews to ensure quality. Conduct / facilitate unit and component integration testing on build deliverables to a high quality to meet the quality gates for handover to the Test Manager for system integration test.
Produce and maintain appropriate and agreed documentation in line with Company standards.
Provide handover documentation and knowledge transfer to the Application Support teams to enable them to provide support for the production applications.
Adhere to and provide evidence to support the relevant IT General Controls (ITGCs).
Produce estimates in accordance with governance frameworks at each stage in the change process to contribute to budget and resource planning.
Use technical knowledge to shape a solution to meet the business requirements.
Create, amend, and implement software in accordance with requirements, standards, and timescales to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Conduct testing of code and design to ensure it meets functional and non-functional requirements.
Identify and manage stakeholders to gain their buy-in to a proposed solution in line with the agreed scope and timelines of the proposal.
Build and maintain positive relationships with sourcing partners to maximise their contribution to the team.
Provide technical guidance to key stakeholders and colleagues to shape solutions.
Balancing competing priorities of different pieces of work.
Keeping up to date with technical and business developments.
Being able to adapt to the requirements of different types of work which can be complex and non-routine
Responsible for taking initiative in identifying and negotiating appropriate development opportunities.What We're Looking For

Essential

Informatica PowerCenter and/or Business Objects XI skills.
Oracle SQL and/or PL/SQL skills.
Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to upward manage communications and status.
Experience of working with Oracle databases in a development enviroment..
Experience of working in a development environment using SQL tools.
Experience of using Oracle SQL and/or PL/SQL.Desirable

Experience in Datawarehouse design & build skills.
Experience in mentoring junior developers
Experience of basic Java development
