Overview
Due to expansion an opportunity has arisen for a confident Accounts Assistant to join a well-established friendly Chartered Accountancy firm in Camberley.
Accounts Assistant – About the Role
* You will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients. This will account for about two thirds of the role and preparing statutory and annual accounts will make up the remainder of your role.
* You will also manage the accounts in box, dealing with queries, processing of purchase invoices, bank reconciliations, receipting of sales invoices, processing expense claims, processing the payroll journal
* Process VAT returns understanding VAT requirements, concepts and calculations
* Sett up new clients on the bookkeeping system and registering VAT schemes with HMRC
* Ensure the year end files are complete with back up schedules to support balance sheet figures
* And prepare draft business tax computations
* The successful Accounts Assistant will have
* AAT qualification (or QBE)
* Previous experience of managing a portfolio of bookkeeping clients with a good knowledge of the VAT rules on what can and cannot be claimed as well as being proficient in VAT returns, as well as being proficient in VAT returns preparation and submission.
* Previous experience working in a public practice, accounts department or ‘outsourced’ finance function where regular contact is needed with suppliers and customers
* Proficient in the preparation of statutory and annual accounts from records supplied by the client
* Be capable of working in a busy office environment and handling various telephone queries on a daily basis
* Strong attention to detail and reliable
* Ideally you will be proficient in the use of Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Line 50, excel based cash books, IRIS (not essential), Word, Outlook/Microsoft packages
