The Job
The purpose of this role is not only to check a range of business submitted by the IFAs, including the most complex Investment, Pension (inc DB transfers) and IHT cases but also to act as a Technical Consultant as part of the wider division.Responsible for resolving complex queries, appeals and concessions as well as representing the department in projects and corporate developments.

Day to day responsibilities:

Reviewing complex and high value advice cases which may include such items as DB transfers, extensive IHT advice and work with our Private Client Division on high value and high-profile cases.
Consulting on Advice guidance and/or technical project work.
Consulting with Business Risk and Field Management in relation to trend/issues raised from file checking.
Providing expert feedback to the Advisors and Field Management team on case content so as to protect the clients from any mis-selling from any financial, regulatory or reputational damage.
Acting as technical consultant, including potentially training in the field and acting as subject matter expert through events held in location.
Providing training and mentoring for new members of the team where necessary and in conjunction with the training team, including QA.
To ensure Continuous Professional Development by way of external exams, internal training and home study.
The Person:
Must have financial services experience, at minimum Diploma qualified as well as either Chartered status or a relevant advanced qualification for example G60, AF3 or AF7.The current level of qualification held by the individual applicant will determine the internal grade of role we are able to offer.

An understanding of the wider financial services environment, the compliance framework and steps necessary to avoid mis-selling, along with the complaints process.
The ability to undertake complex calculations when assessing cases related to Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, annual lifetime pensions allowances and the analysis of ceding scheme information.
Strong communication skills written and verbal at all levels with the ability to articulate complex feedback.
Proactive in their approach to work and will independently seek to drive change and improve process.
Calm under pressure and able to take a pragmatic and reasoned approach where necessary.

The Hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
