Job Description
British Airways Pension Services Ltd manages all aspects of the airlines two final salary pension schemes. We focus on serving our members and delivering industry leading solutions to the challenges our schemes face.
Our people are experts who deliver services across benefits administration, actuarial, legal, governance, finance and secretariat – providing value and safeguarding the pensions of our 82,000 members.
The Airways Pension Scheme (APS) is a mature defined benefit pension scheme. Established in 1948, it was closed to new members from 31 March 1984.
The Airways Pension Scheme is a mature defined benefit pension scheme. Established in 1984 it was closed to new members in 2003 and closed to future accrual on 1 April 2018.
Responsibilities (full on-the-job training will be provided)
For the operating companies:
* Responsible for company and adviser ledgers
* Lead two members of staff and providing training and development
* Monthly management accounting, working closely with department heads
* Ad hoc reporting
* Annual budget preparation
* Cash Management
* Inter-group recharges
* Responsible for certain controls underlying group risks
There will also be the opportunity to be involved in other areas of Finance, pensions accounting and investment oversight.
Key Skills
* Knowledge of accountancy/purchase ledger
* Strong excel skills
* Good communication skills (oral and written)
* Strong organisational and administration skills
* Enthusiasm and drive to produce high quality work and for continued learning
* Ability to perform tasks and processes independently
* Work as part of a team to develop and improve current practices, responding to business change to enhance the control environment and to promote efficiencies.
Pre-Existing Qualifications/Experience
Either nearly or fully qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA). Educated to degree level, but would also consider individual educated to A Levels or equivalent standard when supported by practical accounting experience.

A generous level of support is provided for further study if desired and agreed. Our offices in Harmondsworth are open with face to face team working strongly encouraged. Remote working and flexible working are also offered
