Legal Cashier – St Albans Job in St. Albans, Hertfordshire

Job Description
Based in central St Albans, our client's law firm has been serving the local people for decades.

The firm deals with a range of areas including Residential and Commercial Property, Private Client and Family Law.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Legal Accounts Manager, this full-time position consists of cashier support including but not be limited to:

* Undertaking day to day banking functions, including bank reconciliations;
* Opening and closing Designated Deposit accounts as and when required, processing interest received promptly;
* Preparing cheques and processing bank transfers, CHAPS and BACS payments
* Dealing with residual balances on a regular basis
* Preparing credit control and chasing unpaid bills. Providing Fee Earners with monthly reports and identifying outstanding payments
* Processing weekly Legal Aid payments received
* Processing daily Client and Office account and billing transactions in a timely manner;
* Preparing financial management reporting as and when required
* Preparatory work for the annual accounts and assisting the Legal Accounts Manager and the Processing purchase ledger invoices promptly
* Auditors as and when required
* Preparing VAT reports for the accountants
* Assisting the Legal Accounts Manager in preparing information required to complete PII, Office Insurance, Practicing Certificate applications etc.
* Administering and reconciling Petty Cash expenses
* Additionally, the Cashier will be required to provide ad-hoc assistance to others within the firm and to assist with covering Reception/the phones when needed.
* Assisting the Legal Accounts Manager with the preparation of annual budgets and cash-flow forecasting.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following attributes:

* Be an experienced Legal Cashier
* Be able to work independently and as part of the team where necessary
* Be a confident communicator, able to build and maintain relationships within the firm;
* Be enthusiastic, dedicated and flexible
* Be happy and able to help in other roles in the firm when required, such as helping out on Reception or supporting and assisting colleagues
* Be focussed on delivering a high quality and timely service to our team and clients.
