Job Description
CMA is exclusively supporting a lovely SME business who operate in the construction sector in the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant to cover a period of maternity.

The Assistant Accountant will benefit from a full handover with the current incumbent and will committed to the post until November 2023.

You will be supported by an additional Accounts Administrator, who looks after the transactional elements for the business and you will report into the company directors as well as presenting the figures to their parent company.

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

Conduct the monthly supplier payment run, and present to MD for approval;
Update and monitor the cash flow spreadsheet, and present information to our parent company at bi-weekly meetings;
Raise monthly Management Accounts and reconcile to Sage 50;
Assist third party payroll company, and input wages onto bank when submitted;
Check bank daily;
Run quarterly VAT return;
Reconcile bank and credit card;
Run monthly CIS returns;
Assist the Management Team with Budget preparations;
Prepare monthly Board Pack for Director meetings;
Handle confidential employee details;
Distribute petty cash when required, and reconcile monthly;
Upload Trial Balance to margin spreadsheet and reconcile;
Input purchase invoices onto Sage 50;
Input sales data onto margin spreadsheet;
Provide a complete handover to the current Assistant Accountant upon their return from maternity leave. 
Suitable Candidate for Assistant Accountant role:

Comfortable working in a varied finance role;
Experience of Sage 50 desirable;
Experience in construction sector desirable;
Must have experience in a similar role;
Able to begin in October and commit until November 2023.
