Senior Financial Accountant – Shannon, Ireland
Really unique and exciting role to join this niche international provider of international business aviation support solutions.
The company established an Irish base in 2018 and has been operating for more than 25 years. Due to the rapid recent expansion and forecast growth, they have a great opportunity for an all-round Financial Accountant to join a professional team.
This is a brand-new role, reporting to the Financial Director who has a strong background in aviation finance.
If you are looking for something different, and you are motivated, results-driven, and proactive then this is a super opportunity. You should be a qualified accountant with more than 4 years PQ experience and are interested in continuous learning as you will be given the chance to take on more responsibility as the business grows. You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and have excel expertise. Aviation experience isn't necessary although an advantage. You should be based within commutable distance to Shannon.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the company's accounting operations and guide financial decisions by defining, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Take ownership of the Accounts Receivable function and strategize on the best collection method for each customer.
Assist junior members of the team and review their work on a timely basis.
Oversee the month-end process and prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Oversee the payroll function through a third-party service provider.
Approve all vendor payments ensuring terms are respected.
Assist in preparing supporting schedules & liaise with external auditors.
Build relationships with clients and provide monthly financial reports.
Assist the Finance Director with process improvement projects and identify areas of improvement and develop strategies/plans to implement change.
Identify cost-saving opportunities for both ACASS and our customers.
Continually assess our current Finance & related IT applications to ensure all tools are working efficiently.
Review the controls environment, ensuring effective & robust policies, procedures & controls are in place.
Qualifications and Skills:
Accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) with 4-6 years of post-qualification experience.
Strong analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel are required.
Prior experience in the aviation industry is considered an asset.
Ability to resolve or propose solutions to issues that arise on a day-to-day basis.
Self-starter with a high level of diligence including the ability to work autonomously and with other key process leaders.
Goal-oriented and results driven with a strong desire to see tasks through to completion, and a realistic and pragmatic approach to objectives.
Proven aptitude for process improvement/process re-engineering.
Able to interact comfortably and effectively at all levels within the organization including Operations & Finance Executive Management Team.
