Job Description
Principal Application Support Engineer – Permanent Role

Financial Services

Bradford based – 1-2 times a week on site

£52,000 to £62,000 per annum (based on experience & location) + 10% bonus scheme

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Provide and maintain development, test, and production data integration platforms and business applications.

* Identify potential for new technologies, to aid in Design discussions and implementation plans.

* Deliver and maintain business data workflows – the end-to-end process of scheduling, alerting and monitoring.

* Design and Implement and support data transfers with external parties.

* Manages Application associated Risks and collates, reports, and manages remediation of Risks through VBL Risk Management Process

* Works with Operations Management to ensure Support, Maintenance and Licensing specific to the Application estate is clearly managed.

* Comply with the organisations Information Security Policy, and all subordinate policies and local procedures.

* Manages Application associated Incidents and problems and remediation of these through our operational ITIL Practices.

* Ensure that tasks related to on-going projects or BAU initiatives are correctly refined and visible with our agile practices and ceremonies.

* Manages wider Applications Support Engineering team. Communicates company goals, best practices, and deadlines to team.

* Assisting and Supporting the wider Operational projects for the team working autonomously to engage key stakeholders, ensuring all decisions satisfy risk appetite and managing controlled delivery.

* Can liaise with Project Managers, Business Analysts and Managers around current processes, best practices, and ideas to solve business challenges.

* Identifies and reduces costs incurred by the team and looks for ways to optimise while continuing to deliver a great customer experience (Internal and External)

* Protect the organisation assets in line with the requirements set out in the Acceptable Use Policy.

Stay abreast of trends and new capabilities in the domain of Application Engineering and identify appropriate and effectives ways of utilising them to provide a better customer experience

Works with the wider team to ensure that technical dept and service improvement activities are visible and prioritised alongside new features

Ensure clear documentation and commented code is in place for all tools/processes

Quickly identifying and implementing resolutions, ensuring lessons captured and preventative controls introduced for future delivery’s.
