The position:
Identify potential and actual issues and take appropriate action to mitigate future risks or issues;
Continually review existing processes with a view to innovating new practices, developing or improving new procedures leading to best practice operations;
Maintain effective working systems and internal controls, ensuring that errors are minimised and any changes are reflected accurately;
Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures;
Be the payroll subject matter expert and the main point of contact for legislative changes and/or procedural changes to the way we process our weekly payroll;
Ensure any payroll projects or process improvements are implemented fully and all associated processes adapted to support the change; Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise the weekly payroll from start to finish to ensure the accurate and timely processing of weekly wage payments for temporary workers;
Investigate, reconcile and correct payroll data issues, discrepancies and errors;
Support the Operations team by inputting all the necessary information onto the payroll database, as well as reviewing and reporting any discrepancies in rates or workers' hours;
Ensure all the payroll submissions are made in a timely manner (Timesheets, bonuses, PAI, holidays, corrections);
Supervise client information, including generating invoices in the invoicing tool, checking margins and sending the invoices out to the clients;
Supervise client invoice queries;
Involve in calculating and processing deductions from earnings as per the directives from DWP;
Involve in calculating and processing statutory payments (incl. checking the eligibility);
In addition, there may be some payroll-related project work assigned and modified at the manager's discretion;About you:
Familiarity with payroll processes, and systems;
Must be able to understand how calculations work for starters, leavers, pensions and statutory payments;
Knowledge in interpreting and implementing Payroll legislation;
Knowledge of working in a local government environment such as the public sector or the NHS;
Comfortable with Excel;
Excellent attention to detail;
Adaptable, resilient and with a start-up approach;
CIPP desirable;What we offer:
