Job Description
Walters People: Payroll Clerk – £26,000 to £32,000 – 6-to-12-month FTC – South Birmingham – Hybrid

Main responsibilities of the Payroll Clerk:

Processing changes to monthly payroll including bank details, pensions, and payments

Resolve pay queries involving PAYE, NICs, SSP, SMP, pensions, salary sacrifice

Calculate gross amounts and estimate for advance

Complete pay requisition to effect net payment to the individual

Raise and issue debtor letters as needed

Responsible for processing Starters/Leavers including Staff Engagement Forms, and tax, NI and pensions

Responsible for processing Statutory and Occupational Payments

Responsible for resolving and escalating payroll-related staff queries, liaising with the HMRC in regards to taxation issues as required

Any reasonable additional duties as directed by the Payroll Manager or Deputy Payroll Manager

About you as the Payroll Clerk:

Ability to provide a tactful, sensitive and confidential service to members of staff about all things related to their payments and associated subjects

Self-driven, results orientated with a positive proactive outlook

Detailed focus on quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all tasks assigned

Ability to manage and prioritise a given list of tasks

Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills

Some relevant experience in payroll or accounts

Customer service experience

Excel/spreadsheet working to a high standard
