Introduction:
Our client, an established financial services organisation is looking to recruit a driven, experienced individual to join their Risk and Compliance team. Role has responsibility for the Money Laundering reporting which is a prescribed responsibility under the Senior Management Regime.
Responsibilities of the Operational Risk Manager include:
* To take second line responsibility for all operational and conduct risks, ensuring suitable systems and controls are in place to protect the Society, staff and customers; taking account of current and emerging risks.
* Investing time in training and supporting first line colleagues, to drive a culture and understanding of first line risk ownership, where colleagues care about the effectiveness of their control framework and use it to get things right.
* Supporting colleagues in reviewing Policies, procedures, training and checklists.
* Facilitate the consistent recording and challenge of first line risk and control framework.
* Collaborating with colleagues across the Society to implement suitable solutions to meet regulatory and legal expectations as they evolve.
* Supporting colleagues when things go wrong (e.g. incidents, audit and assurance issues) to ensure we learn appropriate lessons, minimize chance of reoccurrence and appropriately document and evidence.
* Providing suitable information and insight to understand risks, suitable independent assurance on the way risks are managed and facilitating discharge of the Committee duties.
* Manage and provide cover for the Operational Risk Officer.
* Champion of financial crime prevention
Requirements
* Line management experience
* Ability to deliver all requirements of Regulators, Board, Auditors and Colleagues in relation to Operational and Conduct Risk.
* Knowledge for producing all reports required for Board, Audit Committee and ExCo in relation to Operational and Conduct Risk e.g. Monthly ExCo Report
* Financial Crime Prevention expertise (through training courses and practical experience of prevention of fraud, money laundering, terrorist funding, bribery, corruption etc.)
* Cyber Assurance expertise (through training courses and practical experience)
* Understanding of Mortgage, Savings, IT and HR risk management and control framework
