Office Manager, Payroll & Bookkeeper – Small Family Run Practice – Hertfordshire

About the Company: Our client is a small, family run firm of chartered accountants looking for a senior person with ambitions to become a practice principal in a firm based in Hertfordshire.

About the Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an efficient office manager who can also undertake the duties of Payroll Administrator and Bookkeeper.

About the Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will have strong numeracy skills and be able to multitask effectively. The role will include:

* Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.

* Managing a portfolio of payrolls they act on behalf as a payroll bureau. You would be responsible for all payroll processes. You will take on the management of employee data, ensuring accuracy computing wages, and ensuring payrolls are completed on time.

* Liaising with clients regarding their payroll needs.

* Providing information and answering employer questions about payroll related matters.

* Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions such as pensions, sick and maternity pay and entering these into payroll software.

* Preparing and issuing reports.

* Maintaining employee records.

* Filing with HMRC and pension providers working to their deadlines.

* Speaking with HMRC on payroll matters.

About the Applicant:

As the successful applicant, you will have:

* 2+ years of experience working in a payroll office

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office

* Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail

* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

* Good time management and organisational skills

* Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations

* Ability to prioritise and multitask effectively

* Experience using QTAC Payroll Bureau preferable

* 2+ years of experience working in a bookkeeping to trial balance role

* Experience using QuickBooks, Xero and Sage (in the main).
