A career that makes a difference
What we’re about:
Formed in 1872 in Victorian Rochdale, our bank was built on co-operative values that still stand today. A lot has happened in 150 years, and we’ve been there through it all. Not just helping people with their money, but helping people fight for justice and the causes they care about. We are the only UK high street bank with a customer-led Ethical Policy; one of the main reasons our customers choose to bank with us.
We are the bank for people with purpose. From supporting local communities to tackling climate change, all our colleagues and customers have a say in who we are and how we do business. Ethical then, ethical now, ethical always.
Why join The Co-operative Bank:
We are a diverse colleague community and encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work. We strive to help colleagues connect and support each other, our customers and our communities. We reward them with more than just a competitive salary, offering an attractive range of benefits that support work life balance, wellbeing and career development.
Role purpose:
We have great opening available for Customer Service Advisors within our Mortgage Services Department. These roles will involve liaising with brokers, processing mortgage applications for new customers and the general administration of mortgage accounts.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to kick-start their career or continue their career within the financial services industry. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t worked in a contact centre before, as we’ll give you full training to understand our clients, products and offers. Perhaps you’ve previously worked in retail, or in the hospitality/service industry—we’re looking for great people with transferrable skills who can understand customer challenges and communicate clearly and confidently.
What you will be doing:
* Liaising with Brokers on new mortgage lending applications with varying levels of sign off authority.
* Managing own caseload of mortgage applications from application to offer, ensuring they are processed efficiently, whilst following our service standards and lending criteria.
* Processing all incoming and outgoing requests from Brokers in a timely manner.
* Handling both standard and specialist enquiries when required.
* Working closely with the Underwriting Department.
* Collating and reviewing a range of documentation such as bank statements, payslips, self employed accounts to calculate income to support mortgage applications and checking for any unusual discrepancies that may lead to a money laundering event.
* Communicating effectively and efficiently by email and over the telephone.
* Updating systems accurately to allow others to understand actions taken/proposed
* Ensuring workflows are completed in a timely manner with accurate, appropriate responses and updates to all correspondence.
What we would like you to have:
* A passion for helping people
* Transferrable experience of face-to-face or telephony-based customer service
* Experience of developing strong customer relationships.
* The ability to provide a high level of customer service
* Confident in using multiple computer systems.
What you can expect from us:
* Starting on 27 days holiday, rising to 30 days plus bank holidays and the opportunity to buy extra holidays
* 6 monthly pay reviews
* Annual bonus
* Free onsite car parking
* Up to 10% employer pension contribution
* Income protection
* Life assurance
* 2 paid days for volunteering per year
* Excellent training and career progression path
* Family friendly policies and a supportive work environment
* Colleague network groups committed to diversity and inclusion.
If this opportunity sounds interesting and you have the required skills sets, we would love an application from you.
Our Bank is committed to continuing to create a diverse workforce and an inclusive environment where all colleagues can fulfil their potential. We welcome applications from talented individuals from all backgrounds and lifestyles who can work with us in maintaining a culture of belonging, where people are valued and respected.
