Management Accountant
£52,000 – £56,000 per annum | Canary Wharf, London | Full Time, Permanent
The Company
Our client is a joint-venture between two industry leaders in their fields. One a distinguished passenger transport business operating in 16 countries around the world, the other a leader in engineering consultants and public sector provider who deliver innovative and versatile asset management, engineering design and operational delivery solutions to public travel. Together, their focus is to boost services and implement a series of service improvements to make journeys better and safer for passengers travelling by rail.
Role Purpose
Be fully accountable in all aspects of management accounting, preparation of plans, budgets and forecast. Lead on monthly financial review meetings with Directors and General Managers, analysing business performance, identify trends and emerging problem areas, including root cause analysis and providing solutions for cost savings and/or efficiencies.
Collaborating with different areas of the business and proactively challenge performance and drive change to ensure key operational and financial targets are achieved or beaten. With a key focus on the Support Services and Service Delivery to provide Business Partnering Support, training, and interface between Finance & Commercial.
Responsibilities
Direct management of 3 role, including day-to-day communication and motivation as well as succession planning and performance management
Responsible for meet accounting and payment deadlines, ensure validity of supplier database and maintenance of audit trail of changes.
Ongoing review of existing finance procedures to ensure internal controls are maintained and efficient and effective financial transaction processing is in place
Produce financial statements including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentaries
Full accountability in the production of the annual budgets and periodic forecasting for providing ongoing analysis against targets and reporting them to the department Directors and GMs.
First reviewer of periodic Fee Certificate ensuring all financial data is accurate before being sent to the client for approval
Ongoing review of cash flow and production of forecasts / monthly banking reconciliation
Approver of monthly payments on account and first reviewer of quarterly VAT returns
Responsible for managing capital expenditure including working with Heads of Departments to build sound business cases prior to submission to Executive Team
Accountable for balance sheet reconciliations for debtors and creditors accounts, ensuring all asset and liabilities are accurately reflected in the financial statements
Accountable for ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and accounting standards
Carry out continuous reviews of working accounting practices and processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
Key point of contact for annual statutory financial audit, all queries to be resolved in a timely manner
Act as Deputy for Head of Finance as required.
Working with both local and international consolidation departments (Keolis UK and HQ) to ensure complete start to finish monthly group reporting information is submitted in a timely manner.
Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders (including DLR) to ensure all rechargeable costs are captured, agreed, and billed in a timely manner and compliance with contractual obligations
Managing and updating internal expense policy as required
Active member of the KAD Apprenticeship Board, liaising with HMRC and other education establishments to ensure the apprenticeship levy is utilised
Person Specification
Finance Degree or/and ACA/CIMA Fully Qualified Accountant
Qualified by experience will also be considered
Operational partnering experience.
Experience of annual reporting and planning cycles.
Previous staff management and development experience (preferable but not required)
Ability to demonstrate an understanding and adoption of governing principles.
Strong technical accounting knowledge
Experience running annual audit
Financial modelling
