Internal Auditor Job in Leicestershire

Job Description
Summary of the Role

Our client – a highly successful, national PLC – is seeking an experienced accountant to provide risk-based internal auditing support for a Group of Companies, initially on a full-time 9 to 12-month fixed term contract. The role covers two facets… reviewing key controls in individual business units (visit once every two years), and Company-wide process reviews of areas highlighted as high inherent and/or residual risk.

The department reports to the Audit Committee of the Board, and is resourced in two ways – primarily through a small number of permanent staff and, where necessary, utilising a co-sourcing agreement with an external provider. The permanent resource will be engaged on a variety of cross-group process reviews and key control reviews in the business units.

Auditing is carried out in line with the annual audit plan, to enable an annual opinion on the effectiveness of internal controls.

Reporting to the Audit Manager, the successful candidate will engage with the business to deliver the work of the Internal Audit department in a professional manner, and act as a colleague with other members of the department / be an informal mentor to our Graduate Internal Auditor.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and execution of individual reviews,
Meeting with auditees and reviewing evidence,
Performing and writing up testing,
Identifying and agreeing findings with auditees,
Formulation and agreement of action plans showing responsibilities and timescales,
Follow up of the implementation of agreed actions,
Facilitating risk reviews.
You will be required to travel across multiple sites (circa 20% of the time), therefore candidates can be based either in the Midlands OR Northern England.
