Job Description
The Company

D9 Fibre is a new and exciting disruptive fibre broadband provider backed by Triple Point Investment Management through its Digital 9 Infrastructure fund. The focus will be to bridge the digital infrastructure divide within social housing, creating greener and more sustainable connectivity. Glasgow has been selected as the first city to benefit from affordable broadband, with further roll outs planned across UK cities with similar demographics and governance structures as part of D9 Fibre’s future growth strategy.

This is a high-profile start-up with estimated build costs for the Glasgow project being estimated as c£100m. D9 Fibre anticipates initial growth of 250,000 homes being capable of connection within the first two and a half years of operation.

As part of this exciting phase of growth, the role of Head of FP&A has been identified which will be pivotal in the support of the initial setup of the FP&A function in Glasgow, whilst also acting as a key support to the leadership team for the future growth of the business.

The Opportunity

With a direct reporting line to the CFO, the Head of FP&A will primarily support the rapid growth of the company and take ownership of the full planning cycle, including long term strategic plans, budgets and forecasts and will provide insight and analysis to the SLT to support strategic decision making. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with key stakeholders and departmental heads throughout the business. A key focus will be to ensure the leadership team are provided with high quality and insightful financial information, commercial business cases and financial projections to allow the business to deliver on its short and long term objectives.

This is a highly visible role within the business and will require a clear communicator who has strong influencing abilities across a range of level and teams. Key to this will be someone with a commercially focussed mindset who will own the financial budgeting and forecasting processes across the business and will lead the financial evaluation of potential opportunities that are identified by the wider teams.

Additionally, the Head of FP&A will work closely with the commercial teams, analysing data and presenting it in a format that will inspire positive change and decision making. The ability to take a bigger picture view will be key as well as having a strong business partnering skillset to build and develop relationships across the company.

It will offer the successful candidate a chance to fully implement a FP&A function from day 1 and play a key role in the journey and future successes of the business.

Job Description

The Head of FP&A will own the financial budgeting and forecasting processes across the company and will lead the financial evaluation of potential future business opportunities that are identified by the commercial, technology and operational teams.

* Provide leadership to the finance team, ensuring that stretch objectives are developed and plans are in place

* Develop the wider finance team functional strategy in conjunction with the Head of Finance

* Own the annual budget and target setting process for the company

* Ensure that the team meet with the budget holders monthly to analyse variance to the budget and prepare a narrative for inclusion in the monthly management accounts

* Provide longer-term financial forecasts and supporting analysis to the Executive team

* Prepare formal papers for the Executive Team, Audit Committee and Board as required

* Support the Executive and wider leadership team with data driven analysis and commercial business case preparation

* Challenge current thinking, making recommendations on how to optimise business opportunities and minimise risk/cost to the business

* Ownership of the finance function risk register in conjunction with the Head of Finance

Candidate Requirements

* Qualified Accountant (7-8 years post qualification minimum) (CA/ACCA/CIMA)

* An experienced leader with proven experience in leading and developing teams

* Excellent communication skills at all levels of a business including board and senior stakeholders

* Excellent attention to detail

* Able to design, implement and monitor KPI’s and metrics to ensure performance is monitored and early action facilitated

* Experience in developing complex financial models

* Excellent presentation and reporting skills, able to deliver relevant reports and analysis succinctly and clearly to a range of different stakeholder
