Job Description
Role Overview

We are current have an exciting opportunity for a head of finance to join our financial services client in Bournemouth. You'll be leading a busy finance team the role holder will take ownership of financial and management reporting tasks and the continuous improvement of an efficient finance and procurement function.

Key Responsibilities

Management Reporting

Lead the production of monthly management accounts ensuring major variances are explained and, if appropriate, identify remedial action/s.
Produce and develop the monthly reporting pack to senior stakeholders, to strict deadlines. Additionally, responsible for drafting the Finance report, which is used to communicate results internally and externally.
Accountable for providing financial monitoring services for investment, modelling and project spend, including tracking efficiency savings versus business case targets.Financial Planning and forecasting

Lead the annual budget process, ensuring a workable and locally owned set of plans which are agreed by the Board.Business Partner Support

Build strong and positive relationships with budget holders and senior managers, providing the necessary assistance and professional advice to assist them with the financial aspects of their duties.
Ensure the Finance Business Partner(s) are supporting each area of the business appropriately so that managers across the business understand and 'own' their numbers and receive analysis that informs and supports effective decision making.
Through the Finance Business Partner(s), responsible for costing and budgeting projects and resources.
Be the focal point for complex financial queries, providing advice to stakeholders.Financial Accounting and Reporting

Responsible for all accounting activities for all legal entities, including statutory reporting.
Management accountability for the team responsible for statutory reporting, accounting, and accounts payable.
Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (to include quarterly statutory accounts, income statements, balance sheet, cash flow statements, to name a few).
Coordinate with external and internal auditors and interact with the Audit Committee.Transactions and Payments

Responsible for timely and accurate transactional processing to the core loan management system.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant payment scheme requirements and related internal requirements in relation to fraud prevention and AML as specified by the Risk & Compliance function.
Optimising cash management.Procurement

Maintaining relevant policies and procedures for cost effective procurement processes and ensuring contract owners have the required tools to perform adequate monitoring and due diligence on suppliers and outsource partners.Payroll, Pensions & Tax

Responsible for the accurate and timely payment of payroll, pensions and all applicable taxes.
Maintaining adequate records.
Identifying opportunities for tax optimisation.Systems / Processes / Controls

As the process lead for the budget, forecast and financial management reporting processes, you are responsible for identifying and implementing efficiency and value improvements
Investigate and implement improvements in budgeting and reporting.
Ensure the integrity of the financial data supplied by the Finance team to other areas of the business and to external stakeholders.
Also ensure the accuracy of reporting and compliance with FS regulatory requirements as well as our statutory obligations for producing financial management information.
Take ownership and delivery of a range of departmental projects, including reporting, portfolio management, automating processes, testing and more.
Accountable for continuous improvement of system and legislative changes that impact your responsible specialist areas.Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

Strong staff management skills. Including the ability to develop individuals to reach their potential and deal with under performance if required.Desirable:

Strong decision support background with experience of managing budget processes in a complex environment.
Strong analytic skills, able to identify and interpret trends and improve financial forecasting.
Strong finance system skills, including excel and using and developing reporting tools.Qualifications Required

Essential:

Qualified accountant
Financial services experience (preferably in banking or consumer credit)
Management Accounts preparation.Desirable:

Experience of managing and maintaining financial control frameworks in a high-volume financial services environment.
Public company reporting experience
Previous experience of successfully managing and developing systems and upgrades.
Previous experience of capital raising
