Job Description
Auriga Services are looking for a Grants Assessor to join a dynamic, fast growing public benefit entity with a track record spanning 23 years. You will be responsible for assessing grant applications received on behalf of Trust Fund/s managed by Auriga. Liaising with clients and external agencies to help improve their financial situation.  

As a Grants Assessor at Auriga, you will: 

Take ownership of applications for grants made to the Trust from individuals and/or third party referral agents
Undertake assessments of all applications in accordance with delegated authority and in line with equal opportunities, ensuring consistency and fairness and working within strict budget guidelines
Decide on the level of grant to be paid if any within guidelines given; Maintain auditable records of applications and grants as required; Communicate with applicants and or their advisors by telephone and email; Authorise payment of grants in accordance with financial procedures
Provide information by telephone and in writing for organisations and applicants regarding individual queries, application processes and grants for organisations 
Receive and handle telephone calls from applicants and other external contacts with excellent customer service. 
Assist and support the Team Manager and Operations Director as required. 
At Auriga, we are looking for a Grants Assessor who has the following skills and experiences: 

Good interpersonal skills both in formal and informal situations with the ability to adapt style to suit circumstances
Empathy and compassion based on life skills with a genuine understanding of vulnerable people in financial crisis or hardship 
A good understanding of basic money advice skills such as budgeting and priority vs non- priority debts
Good organising and process improvement skills
Ability to plan and to recognise external influences
Highly motivated in this area of work
Determination to complete a task and self-motivation
Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to understand the strategic picture and to take decisions accordingly
An understanding of team dynamics and the attitude and ability to contribute positively
Flexibility and enthusiasm
Ability to adapt to growth and change and to continuously seek improved ways of working 
A good understanding of the benefit system. 
We are located in the West Midlands in Sutton Coldfield centre only 2 minutes from the train station but are open to people who can split their time between the office and working remotely. This is a full time Assessor role working 37.5 hours per week. Your working hours are reasonably flexible between 09.00 – 17.00 ensuring business needs are met.
