Job Description
What? Financial Accountant

Where? Horley / Hybrid Working

How much? £45,000 – £50,000 dependant on experience

I am working with one of my clients who has an exciting role for a Financial Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the financial reporting and tax team in preparing the annual financial statements, assisting with the external audit process, and performing tax compliance and control tasks. Study support will be offered for the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities:

Preparation of audited year end financial statements for the Group's subsidiaries at year end, and unaudited interim accounts at half year
Support the external audit process and preparation of audit pack
Assist with month end process: preparation of journals, balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining the intercompany processes
Ad hoc accounting tasks, including implementing process improvement and assisting with accounting advice papers
Extracting and reviewing AP reports for VAT purposes and sample checking supplier invoices to ensure VAT compliance
Collation of data and responding to employee queries with regard to taxable employee benefits
Assist with the preparation of corporation tax computations
Administration in respect of tax compliance

EXPERTISE

The job holder should be progressing with ACCA qualification or equivalent experience, and it would be preferable to have a degree.

We're also looking for:

Good accounting and tax knowledge
Competent using Excel and computing skills
Interpersonal and communication skills
Diligent with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to prioritise workload
Relevant degree/ previous experience ideal
1-2 years relevant experience beneficial
Experience within a similar financial reporting role for a Group or Practice
Good working knowledge of FRS102
Experience preparing financial accounts including consolidations
Experience of Oracle, TM1 and/or IRIS Accounts Productions software advantageous but not essential
