Job Description
Finance Manager (Part-Time)
Little Valley Animal Shelter, Exeter
The Organisation
We are Little Valley Animal Shelter, an independent RSPCA Branch dedicated to helping Devon’s animals in need, regardless of their age, species or behaviour.
We aim to promote animal welfare and prevent cruelty to animals by all lawful means. We do this by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming mistreated, abandoned and unwanted animals. We also provide advice and, when necessary, financial support to pet owners.
Through the thoughtful application of our finite resources, we strive to create a community where people value animals and treat them with the respect and kindness they deserve.
We are now looking for a Finance Manager to support our vital charity on a part-time, permanent basis working 0.4 FTE.
The Benefits
– Salary of £15,022.80 pa (FTE £36,000)
– Access to our Health Assured programme
– Free on-site parking
– Flexible working options
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant to join a well-respected and recognised national brand.
Your contribution will ensure that we are enabled to deliver vital care to animals and support to owners as well as providing a proactive and forward thinking-finance function. In return, we’ll provide flexible working options to meet your needs and a chance to continue your career track whilst delivering on your out-of-work commitments.
So, if you want to help us to deliver great animal welfare whilst applying your accounting expertise to our worthy good cause, apply today!
The Role
As the Finance Manager, you will take the lead on our financial management to ensure healthy finances so we can continue our important work.
Specifically, you will provide operational and high-level support to our CEO and Trustee Board whilst line managing the Accounts Officer in the delivery of day-to-day book-keeping and financial administration.
You will develop our accounting policies and procedures to produce robust, timely and accurate financial analysis and reports and prepare annual statutory financial statements.
Additionally, you will ensure that all the necessary checks and balances, systems and processes are in place as well as running the payroll.
About You
To be considered as the Finance Manager, you will need:
– A full qualification in either ACCA, ACA or CIMA
– At least five years’ accounting experience
– Proven experience of producing budgets, forecasts and monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and other financial reports
– Familiarity with statutory requirements, charity finance and audits
– Experience of developing and introducing finance and accounting policies and strengthening systems and processes
– An understanding of GDPR requirements
– A full, valid driving licence and access to your own transport
– The ability to deliver on deadlines, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
– Empathy with our core values of improving the lives of animals and helping to prevent cruelty and neglect
Knowledge of charity SORP would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of using Sage.
Experience in a small charity or voluntary sector role is desirable, as is the ability to make financial information accessible and understandable for non-financial audiences.
The closing date for this role is the 17th October 2022.
Other organisations may call this role Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Accountancy Manager, Accounts Manager, Management Accountant, Finance and Administration Manager, Finance Lead, Finance and Payroll Manager, or Finance and Compliance Manager.
