Job Description
Finance Assistant required for a growing business in an exciting industry. As the Finance Assistant, you will support the team by being the focal point for finance on-site whilst being supported by a wider remote Finance team as part of a larger American-owned organisation. You will be a good communicator working well across the growing business and with external accounting providers. You will oversee the input of financial information in the system and be responsible for key balance sheet reconciliations. As a key individual of the purchase-to-pay (P2P) process, you will process invoices and ensure that vendors are paid in a timely manner whilst identifying areas for improvement. Working with the wider team you will be responsible for raising invoices to customers and collecting debt as it falls due (orders-to-cash process). You will be comfortable with managing a small payroll and necessary submissions to HMRC to ensure compliance. You will be responsible for VAT submissions and other compliance matter.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Act as focal point of finance on site.
* Ownership of book keeping software (Quickbooks).
* Timely input of financial data in the book keeping software.
* Management of relatively simple payroll before it is outsourced. Key focal point for payroll related matters and compliance.
* Monitoring of the internal control environment.
* Monitor and manage working capital to ensure the Company grows sustainably.
* Support in the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and quarterly forecasts.
* Credit control (customer vetting and subsequent control, timely invoicing, ageing analysis and debt collection)
* Establish credit terms with vendors and ensure payment to terms.
* Perform key reconciliations such as bank reconciliations and ensure appropriate controls are established for payment cycles.
* Provide support to the existing management team and develop financial awareness.
* Ensure insurances are up-to-date and relevant.
* Key contact for all VAT, tax and other statutory queries (with support).
* Compliance with all VAT, intrastat, and tax requirements (with support).
* Work in collaboration with external accounting provider.
Required Experience
* 3+ years in a similar role.
* Manufacturing background and related financial processes.
* ERP experience (Quickbooks or JDE preferred).
* Experience of being the sole ‘finance contact’ on site
* VAT and intrastat submissions.
* Managing small payrolls and related areas.
