Job Description
Employment Tax Finance Business Partner

Location: London

Length: 6 months

Rate: £(Apply online only) per day (Umbrella)

Hours: 9am – 6pm

This role sits in the Group Tax Team reporting to the Group Tax Director.  The Group Tax Team is made up for five finance business partners, who manage corporate tax, VAT, employment taxes and expatriate taxes; two accountants who complete the UK VAT and corporate tax compliance; and two trainees.  There are also tax managers in the US and India, who support with taxes in those jurisdictions. Our client offers a complex and dynamic environment that provides excellent technical development through exposure to a wide range of issues and interaction with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities:

• Review and advice relating to the employment tax (ET) issues of our UK businesses

• Supporting UK businesses with HMRC reviews including liaison with HMRC in respect of LBS ET enquiries across the group

• Provide updates and recommendations to the business, including HR and Payroll, on new legislation relevant to the management of ET

• Work with Reward on the annual flexible benefits scheme

• Provide technical review and analysis of annual ET filings including the PSAs and forms P11D

• Advising on tax consequences of termination payments, and equal/fair pay

• Provision of ET input to wider initiatives including Senior Accounting Officer requirements

• Continually evaluate ways in which existing ET processes across our client can be further aligned, improved, automated and efficiencies created

• Actively partner with the Business to ensure that ET knowledge and case law information is understood, maintained, updated and deliver regular training across our client

• Provide proactive and pragmatic ET input on new initiatives, business line expansion and strategic plans across all business units (including ERP systems upgrades, transactions, setting up offices in new territories) 

• Work closely with and influence senior management to drive business performance via the provision of objective advice, insight and challenge effectively acting as a catalyst for change.

• Work with members of the wider finance community to promote and share best practice.

• Participate in the development of the overall of our clients' financial strategy to ensure the long term financial position is accurately modelled and forecast

• Ensure effective governance, risk management and internal compliance processes and controls are in place. 

• Support the development and implementation of all financial policies and procedures ensuring that these contain appropriate methodologies, internal controls and processes.

• Facilitate self-development by identifying and meeting own skill development needs.

• Facilitate a collaborative working environment by the sharing of information and collaboration on decision making

Essential

• Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines;

• Ability to think strategically and consider future implications when preparing/reviewing work and/or advising on project work

• Build relationships and trust within the organisation and work effectively as part of diverse teams

• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify improvements to processes and controls

• Able to manage own workload independently while being part of a larger team

• Able to deal with ambiguity, imprecise or incomplete data, and other people’s time constraints in requesting information and delivering practical advice

• Strong team working and excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Professional accounting and/or tax qualification ACA, CTA or equivalent

• Understanding appropriate processes and controls required in a global organisation, for the management of taxes

• Keeping abreast of UK tax law and its application, specifically the spirit and intention of the law
