An exciting opportunity exists with my client a £multi-million market leading player in the financial services sector.
They are looking to recruit a Data Engineer within the transformation team to support their high growth and acquisition aspirations based in Birmingham.
  
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting into the Data Architect and as part a growing and innovative team, and to be responsible for the delivery of the designs set by the Lead Data Engineer and Data Architect. You will implement complex data flows to connect our operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems.
As this is a growing team within the organisation, the successful candidate will have a critical part to play in shaping working practices, ensuring best practice is adhered to and be confident to assist data analysts and consumers with their queries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

Consults with the Lead Data Engineer, Data and Business Analysts to understand their requirements and translate these into technical solutions.
Understand how to undertake data profiling and source analysis to present clear insights for colleagues into their data and identify data quality issues to be resolved as part of the wider data quality work.
Ensure that all development is created in line with defined development, infrastructure, and security standards.
Build and develop jobs and orchestrations to address data quality issues and ensure that this is applied to data vault transformations, ensuring that data is clean when being loaded to the data lakehouse.
Design, build and test data products from multiple feeds and from a range of different storage technologies, to create repeatable and reusable products.
Design and develop jobs and orchestrations that create data migration solutions as part of any acquisition, which will either be one-off or reusable depending on the source system(s).
Identify areas of innovation in data tools and techniques and recognise the appropriate times to adopt these into the business.
Ensure that solutions consider data quality, cleansing, and error patterns to ensure that data quality is of the highest standard.
Take the most appropriate actions to resolve problems as they occur and implement solutions and preventative measures.
Develop BI reports and dashboards that can be re-used and accessible for data analysis, ensuring that standard development pipelines are used to streamline the delivery of reports to business users.   
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Proven practical experience in writing SQL (DML, DDL, DCL, TCL).
Experience in data modelling at different levels but specifically physical level.
Experience in building or working on data warehouse solutions (Data Vault, Kimball).
Proven experience working with data warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Azure Data Warehouse/Synapse Analytics, AWS, etc.).
Experience of working with differing data formats (XML, JSON, Parquet, CSV, etc.).
Proven experience of working with data integration tools (Matillion, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend, Mulesoft, SSIS, etc.).
Experience of working with Git, Azure DevOps, or similar source control.
The ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems.
Experience of testing solutions in line with user story acceptance criteria, as well as documenting tests and results.
Experience of working with Agile development practices (Scrum, Kanban, User Stories, etc.)
Clearly communicate to technical and non-technical colleagues across the business.
