Job Description
We are recruiting for a Category Lead Buyer to be based at home with some additional travel. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package
The primarily responsibility of the company Category Manager working within the Directs Category Hub is to develop and execute procurement category strategy for specific categories which shall be assigned to the successful candidate. This includes driving lowest costs and greatest value for the organisation including negotiation of supplier agreements. In addition, the position will align the strategies throughout the organisation, at Group and UK business unit level, review and update current segmentation and implement a local strategy to achieve corporate and category objectives.
What will you deliver?
Protect and grow EBIT, improve company cash position, reduce cost of sales
Subject matter expertise on Direct categories which may include MEP, HVAC, Fire Security, Plant Hire, BMS
Responsibility of the following actions for sub-categories under management
Analysing and monitoring spend and business needs,
Anticipating future needs pipeline (business development),
Supplier market analysis,
Design and deliver category strategy,
Framework negotiations
Value enhancement through specific actions targeting Commercial rewards, Unit price reduction, Spot negotiations
Point of contact and resolution for all issues relating to preferred suppliers under management
Plan and execute effective and demonstratable supplier relationship management
Collect market intelligence impacting category / industry and communicate to relevant internal stakeholders on a periodic basis (supply demand, logistics, macro-economic conditions)
Relevant quantitative analysis and reporting illustrating KPIs and overall category performance
Communicate and showcase category strategy, deliverables and initiatives to internal stakeholders
A major contributor to creating an effective team culture
Subject to business needs the candidate should be willing to support on a wider scope on a wider scope in relation to category activities

Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
Minimum 5 years' experience within a relevant field (Procurement, Commercial, Finance)
CIPS qualification is highly desirable
Good financial / commercial acumen
Understands stakeholder management and has demonstratable experience in past roles
Strong inter-personal skills, team player, ability to collaborate on workstreams
Confident presenting to large groups
Works well under pressure
Is solutions focused
Understands corporate strategy and is able to link with personal performance and objectives
Excellent excel and power point skills (working with pivot tables, large data sets, creating dashboards and summaries)
Knowledge of Procurement ERP modules such as COUPA, SAP, MAXIMO is preferred
