Job Description
Futures Recruitment Services are seeking a Benefits Officer for our client based in Kettering ,Northamptonshire .Ideal candidate will provide assistance to the public in writing ,by telephone or in person . Hourly rate negotiable depending on experience , office based ,full time.
Principal Responsibilities:
* Process and maintain all types of Benefit and Support Claims received.
* Manage information received from customers and external agencies and input to processing systems
* Use data received from customers and external agencies to make decisions on complex benefit cases
* Identify cases where discretion is required to be exercised
* Identify cases where there is suspicion of fraud and refers such cases to the Single Fraud Investigation Service for action.
* Keep up to date with legislation via training provided
* Ensure claims are assessed accurately to ensure subsidy is maximised
* Assist customers by correspondence, telephone and face to face.
* Signpost vulnerable customers as appropriate
General:
* Liaise with creditors section to facilitate direct payment for landlords and claimants by cheque or BACS.
* Operate office machinery.
* Comply with all Council Policies with particular reference to the Health & Safety, Equal Opportunity and Communication Policies, data protection and Human rights
* Undertake work related to Welfare Reform and Localised Council Tax Support.
* Undertake any other duties within the scope and grade of this post
