Job Description
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Salary: £28k to £35k
Location: Stoke on Trent
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Accountant's role is to support the finance department and management team by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks, maintaining ledgers and reports and completing accounting duties for the company. The role reports to the Finance Manager, and works closely with the Ledger Clerk and Finance Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

Preparing financial documents such as invoices and statements
Assisting with accounts payable and receivable duties
Liaising with Local Authorities with invoice/resident queries
Liaising with resident families over invoice payments/queries
Arranging Direct Debit Collections
Managing day to day transactions
Bank reconciliations
To initiate cheque/BACS runs and raise manual payments, as necessary
Assisting with month end reporting
Handling accruals and prepayments
Posting and monitoring petty cash
Processing personal and company expenses
Reporting on debtors and creditors
Carrying out basic payroll admin tasks
Working with the Finance Manager and Ledger Clerk to carry out ad hoc tasksSkills & Competencies:
