Job Description
Actuarial Analyst – City of London – Hybrid Working – 2 Days Office/3 Days WFH – Salary Upto £50,000 Plus Bonus & Benefits Package
As an Actuarial Analyst for this superb Global Reinsurance company in the City of London, you will provide the analysis, forecasts and calculations as you investigate & explore performance metrics, pricing parameters & ongoing profitability.
Working with major datasets, you will work across the company's reinsured reserves, reinsured portfolio and other technical initiatives as they arise.
Responsibilities Include:
Conducting investigations into portfolio data to calculate performance metrics and pricing parameters
Working closely across departments to review any perceived profitability issues or concerns
Calculate and validate some balance sheet items for quarterly reports to reinsurers
Calculate and validate the main technical elements of reinsured reserves
Running Best Estimate Liability (BEL) calculations for the reinsured portfolio
Supporting specific projects linked to financial / economic representation which may include Solvency 2, IFRS17 & US GAAP
Conduct forecasting and historical series analysis to propose corrective actions to specific technical issues detected in the portfolio
Supporting partner relationships with specific technical initiatives
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Degree Qualified in Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar is preferred.
Good experience working within Actuarial Analyst or similar roles.
Specific experience in underwriting and/or insurance product pricing is a bonus.
Knowledge of VBA and macros in Excel. Additional programming languages & skills would be useful
Knowledge of database data analytics, SQL queries & dealing with large datasets
Knowledge of actuarial tools such as Prophet or similar is a plus
An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to manage complexity
Strong teamwork skills and a detail oriented and proactive approach is expected
Knowledge of insurance/reinsurance industry and of IFRS principles
Ambition to grow professionally in an international environment
Quick learner, proactive and enthusiast
