About us

Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a leading Insurer in the City, who are looking to hire an Accounts Payable to join on a 9 month FTC.

The Company currently writes lines of business including; speciality insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, credit & political risk, and other speciality; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, speciality reinsurance, whole account/multi-class.

The role

Working in the Non Technical Accounting team, you will take responsibility for all accounts payable.

Key accountabilities

Review and verify invoices and check requests
Enter and upload invoices into accounts payable module for approval
Sort and code invoices in accordance with pre-determined budget portfolios
Schedule invoice payments based on defined payment terms
Prepare and process electronic funds transfers and payments
Monitor payments and investigate failed transactions if necessary
Track expenses and process expense reports
Post transactions to accounts payable ledger and other records
Monitor accounts payable ledger to ensure supplier payments are up to date
Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
Reconcile supplier accounts when necessary
Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
Maintain electronic vendor files including the verification of vendor bank detailsSkills & experience

A minimum of 5 years accounts payable or general accounting experience
Knowledge of relevant accounting software (previous experience with Oracle and SAP Concur preferred)
Knowledge of general accounting principles considered an asset, particularly in relation to accruals and prepayments
Proficient in data entry and management
Ability to prioritize, multitask, problem solve and meet deadlines
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work as part of a broader finance team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working towards an accounting designation not required but considered an asset
