Job Description
Purpose of the role

The Underwriter is responsible for all deals proposed to the Broker Division of the company. Assisting the Head of Credit with proposals that fall outside of mandate. Liaising effectively with other departments, including Head Office Credit, BDMs, BRMs, Administration and the collections department. Embracing and promoting the core group ‘Visions and Values’ ethics.

Key Responsibilities

* Assessing creditworthiness of customers proposed to the company using accounts, bank statements, credit searches, assets type and suitability of the dealer.

* Assessing asset values and obtaining valuations via internet, Glasses Guide, CAP, auction sites, dealers and personal experience.

* Landing Registry searches & internet house price valuations as and when required.

* Verifying credit limits within Group before underwriting.

* Ensuring necessary documentation are completed & sent to customer for signing.

* Dealing with any issues raised by New Business regarding deals to payout, invoices, acceptance conditions not adhered to.

* Maintaining the daily diary system to keep up to date with the status of current deals.

Risk & Compliance

* Ensuring that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required.

Sales

* Assisting the BDMs with the development of broker relationships

* Supporting BDMs & BRMs with feedback on broker proposals and assisting with maintaining NIM%

* Maintaining SLAs and dealing with Broker/Client queries in a timely manner.

* Broker/Client visits when required

Customers

* Communicating decisions to Brokers regarding proposals by email or telephone.

* Maintaining Broker/Client relationships.

* Liaising with other parts of the Broker Division regarding customers/deals to safeguard company interests.

* Working as a team with the Underwriting colleagues along with the New Business & Collections teams.

* Liaising with Brokers to obtain further information / clarification on deals

Skills & Experience

Essential

* Knowledge of the Asset Financing environment

* Knowledge of underwriting within the Asset Financing environment

Desirable

* Previous people management experience.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

* GCSE or O Level Equivalent

Desirable

* Business Administration Degree or equivalent.
