Package and Benefits of an Underwriter:

Salary: £25,000 – £31,400
Location: Clifton, Bristol
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Hybrid working)

Key Responsibilities of an Underwriter:

Responding promptly and efficiently to all customers using various communication methods and systems
Answering technical related queries
Assessing declarations, policy/ scheme setups, and scheme reviews in line with stipulated procedures and authority limits
Processing premium bordereaux and matching premium received with cash received
Working effectively with all stakeholders (including brokers, CMCs, and solicitors) to ensure risks are processed without undue delay
Ensuring SLAs are adhered to while managing expectations of internal and external customers
Providing ongoing support to team members and taking part in ad-doc projects and L&D Plans
Applying knowledge and understanding of product features, exclusions, and conditions in a variety of situations

Skills and Experience of an Underwriter:

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers
Good analytic and numeracy skills
CII qualified or working towards is desirable
Experience in insurance is advantageous
A good level of education and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is essential
Confident at working with Excel
Great organisation of workload, able to plan and prioritise
Friendly and professional, and able to build rapport with stakeholders to ensure positive relations
Capable of working independently and also providing support as a team
A keen interest in developing skill-set, keeping abreast of market knowledge, and demonstrable understanding of processes
