Overview
Pertemps Recruitment on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council has an exciting opportunity for Senior Procurement Officer to join the Finance Procurement team in their Aylesbury office (HP20 area). Working alongside the team you will play an important role in providing strategic procurement advice and supporting all service areas in undertaking and leading on procurement exercises for the benefit of the council and its residents

About the role
As a Senior Procurement Officer, you may be required to support a range of varying council services which can include waste, adult social care, health, transport, finance etc.

You will be required to think strategically in your approach and become a resource weaver by pulling in support, knowledge, and expertise from a wide range of internal and external sources.

You will also have significant exposure to senior officers across the council and will have the opportunity to influence service delivery and future contracts at the council

This is a temporary position for three months initially, though there is potential for this to be extended further. The pay rate is £29.00 per hour, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week.

The Aylesbury office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP20 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40

About you
You must have local authority procurement experience, ideally social care procurement

You will be picking up projects that are mid process as well as any new projects so having experience of this would be beneficial

Comprehensive knowledge of relevant processes, systems, policies and procedures will be essential, as will good knowledge of other areas of the authority relevant to the service.

Bringing excellent ICT skills, you will have experience of standard packages, including MS Office, Excel, and may include use of bespoke databases etc.

Due to the frequent liaison activities, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
You will need to be highly accurate with attention to detail. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
