Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within local authority of Northamptonshire to work as a member of the Tax Billing team dealing with the demand, collection and recovery of the Revenue Tax. Hourly rate negotiable depending on experience ,remote work and office based available.

Main responsibilities:

* To be conversant with the fundamentals of Tax Legislation and ensure bills are raised in accordance with its’ requirements, including identification of liable persons etc.

* Updating computer records with amendments to accounts, creating new accounts. Actioning requests for direct debits, payment arrangements.

* Interview members of the public in connection with revenue matters, conducting correspondence of a routine nature, dealing with telephone and counter enquiries, referring more complex issues to the Senior Revenue Officer.

* Operate and maintain the system for recording, investigating and pursuing 'gone away’ debtors

* Establish and review exemptions, discounts, disabled persons relief, single person discounts and transitional relief scheme.

* To assist Non-domestic Rating or any other section as required.

* Perform any other duties as may reasonably be determined by the Head of Service.

Main outcomes to be achieved:

* Timely collection of Council Tax.

* Accurate Council Tax amendments

* Effective collection processed / promote direct debit take up
