Job Description
Purchase Ledger Officer/Finance Assistant

Talent Accountancy & Finance are looking for a keen & motivated Finance Assistant to come into a role that’s primarily Purchase Ledger focussed but also has further requirements across the broader finance department including Credit Control & some month end duties (90% PL / 10% other tasks).

You’ll be joining a well-established Finance team with experienced and supportive colleagues to help you pick up the role as seamlessly as possible, based in Altrincham.

The salary for this role is up to £21.5k (+ AAT study support) and it will initially be office based while you find your feet in the role. After that there are hybrid/WFH options (approx. 2-3 months into the role subject to how quickly the successful applicant gets up to speed).

The Role

This role has lots of flexibility around work/life balance with flexible office hours & 43 days holiday as standard! You’ll join a small, tight knit team who will be there to support and mentor you where required. This is a key role in Finance as you’ll be responsible for high volume Purchase Ledger postings and required to keep up to date records along with further tasks to support the broader Finance function by providing timely, quality financial information.

Some of the main tasks will include:

* Supplier statement reconciliations & resolving any queries that come as a result

* Accurate posting of supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding of invoices

* Supporting wider Finance team with any reporting or information needs

* Processing customer payments

* Assisting with Credit Control when required

* Supporting Finance Manager with month end duties

The Person

We are looking for someone who is experienced in Purchase Ledger & comfortable with high volume invoice postings and wants a role with clear progression path & opportunities.

In the last 12 months there are at least 2 examples of staff in similar roles progressing into more senior roles such as Finance Officers or Assistant Management Accountants.

It’s likely the successful candidate will either already be doing a Finance qualification or be interested in starting one, so AAT study support will be on offer to pursue alongside your work.

Also, the company are happy to look at candidates with the relevant experience wanting to work a reduced week, eg 30 hours over 4 days with a pro-rata salary.
