Job Description
Payroll Administrator

Chartham, Kent

Salary: £22k – £25k

Due to my clients rural location it is essential you have your own transport

This role will report to the Finance Director and the Payroll Administrator will be responsible for the administration and reconciliation of weekly payrolls & timesheets.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

* Processing high volumes of payroll information for weekly payroll

* Calculation, checking and balancing payroll in preparation for BACS submission

* Timely processing of high volumes of new starters and leavers, importing timesheets and deductions

* Accurate calculation of holiday pay

* Calculation of statutory payments to include SSP, SMP, SPP and other payments as is required

* Making payroll adjustments as is necessary

* Resolution of pay queries

* Calculations of deductions of earnings orders for payment to be made to relevant authorities

* Liaison with external agencies such as the HMRC or the DWP on complex payroll matters

* Provision of specialist guidance on a range of pay and tax related matters

* Preparing and issuing payslips and P45’s

* Updating of the weekly payroll in line with standard procedures

* Any adhoc tasks as is required by the Financial Director

General

Deliver all activities through strict adherence to applicable legislation and in accordance with policies and procedures.

Provide regular timely reports and adhoc reports as is required to management.

Communicate, liaise and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods in order to facilitate the development and profitability of sustainable business relationships

Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, and treat all clients, customers, colleagues, employees, workers and drivers with dignity and respect

Any other duties as is reasonable required by Senior Management.

Key Skills Required

* Methodical and organised approach to work & the ability to analyse and solve problems

* Good communication skills (verbal and written)

* Experience working with Microsoft Office suite, in particular MS Excel

* Pegasus Opera experience is desirable but not essential

* Ability to manage workload on a daily basis and work under own initiative

* Appreciation for the importance of timely, complete and accurate tasks.

* A strong team player who can keep the team engaged whilst constantly seeking opportunities to improve the department
